Tuan Nguyen, OD
Dr. Nguyen began his journey as an optometrist at the Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). After graduating from Reed College with a bachelor degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, Dr. Nguyen took a research assistant position at the Casey Eye Institute at OHSU, working toward a career path of becoming a molecular biologist. His research with sight-threatening eye diseases and his work with visually impaired patients persuaded him to pursue a career to help people obtain good vision through the education and maintenace of good eye health.
Dr. Nguyen recognized early on that the key to providing excellent eye care is through clinical education and training. His goal to provide quality eye care to all patients led him to complete a residency program at the Portland VA Medical Center after graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry with high honors (Magna Cum Laude). This added experience, which is not required from any licensed optometrist, gave him a greater sense of compassion toward patient care in addition to specialized skills and knowledge in primary eye care and ocular diseases. This post-doctoral clinical experience distinguishes Dr. Nguyen from other optometrists.
Dr. Nguyen's thorough examination and clinical competence makes patients feel their visual concerns and eye health are being well taken care of. His outgoing personality makes him very approachable to patients and staff.
To remain on the cutting edge of eye care and research, Dr. Nguyen maintains professional affiliations with the Portland VA and the Casey Eye Institute. In addition to clinical activity, he finds it extremely rewarding to mentor and teach future optometrists, which led to his academic appointment as Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry.
Away from his professional life, Dr. Nguyen keeps busy with various projects around his new house in Sandy, Oregon. His most recent project was the completion of a picket fence for his mini Dachsund, Otto. He also enjoys spending time with family at the Oregon coast.

Heidi Cortez
Heidi is Dr. Nguyen's assistant. We are happy to welcome her as a new member of our staff. Heidi's friendly smile makes every patients feel at home when they walk into our office. Her pleasant, caring nature puts our patients at ease and reassures them of the quality, caring services that they can expect from our office. Heidi performs the preliminary testings before our patients see Dr. Nguyen. She also helps to train and educate our patients about contact lens wear.
Away from work, Heidi likes to spend quality time with her husband and newborn son. Her future goal is to open her own restaurant.

Bonnie Buck
Bonnie is a native of Alaska, where she received her training as a dispensing optician. With over 10 years as an optician, Bonnie also has a vast knowledge on eyewear. She works closely with Dr. Nguyen to ensure that every patients receive the appropriate frame style and lens options to meet their everyday needs. Her caring nature puts our patients at ease when they fill their spectacle prescriptions at our office. Our patients leave our office knowing that they've receive quality products and services. We are fortunate to have Bonnie on our staff.
